Gamoran, Adam. (1996). Student Achievement in Public Magnet, Public Comprehensive, and Private City High Schools. American Education Research Association.
Annotation: This source describes the problems of urban public high schools; and discusses how magnet schools and private schools are the answer. The research found that magnet schools are more effective in raising student’s aptitude in certain subjects. This source seems very qualified because it uses research from a credible source called the National Education Longitudinal Survey.
